Alex
Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Alex Frith trained as a professional ballet dancer at The Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne and performed throughout the country for five years before relocating to London in 1998.
He joined The Circus Space (now known as the National Centre) and expanded his skills to include acting, harness, acrobatics, trapeze, stilt walking and clowning. He gained a place at The Millennium Dome as an ensemble performer for the coveted Central Show where his main skill was bungee stilts at 40 metres!!
In 2001 he founded AirCraft Circus, his aerial acrobatic theatre company and training space at The Hangar in Stratford.
Relocated by the Olympics to Greenwich, South-East London in 2008 the phoenix rose from the ashes as The Hangar Arts Trust where AirCraft Circus lived until 2017. It was a professional Circus company, full-time circus school for adults, children and professional circus artists. He was Chairman of the Charity until 2017 when he left for his homeland to bring his own brand of circus to Byron Bay.
Alex is an expert in performer flying rigging, creating flying effects, working with circus artists, dancers, actors and children. Alex’s Dance background has set him up well to create choreographic sequences in the air or on the ground.
Alex is a well rounded package of creative whirlwind and technical know-how, with a vast knowledge of the equipment available to create effects required for large scale performances.

Alex’s role is as an Artistic Director of circus skills on the fulltime course at AirCraft Circus he devised, directed and produced no less than 17 student showcases and numerous in-house cabarets and youth circus shows. His consulting work specialises in flying performers, fall effects and creating rigging solutions.
He is married to Moira Campbell who he works, teaches and performs with. They have a 10 year old daughter called India-Rose who has grown up in the circus world.
His most recent gig was Directing Circus Oz in their 2018 Model Citizens tour.
In his spare time he likes to make leather goods, such as wallets and knife sheaths.
